    • Reliable and a pleasure to drive

I purchased my Volvo XC70 new and have had it for almost 7 years. It has been reliable and is pleasant to drive, especially on road trips. The mileage in town is around 17 mpg, but on the open road it routinely averages 31 mpg. The XC70 easily holds 5 adults and there is plenty of storage room in the rear cargo area. With the back seats folded down, it is easy to fit about any item in the back. Routine maintenance keeps my XC70 running smoothly. I am on my second set of tires. The XC70 is easy to enter and exit for the driver and passengers. The ground clearance is just right. The controls for the sound system, bluetooth and cruise control are located on the dash and on the steering wheel for ease of use while driving.
    • Great car but expensive to fix

By Connie on Tuesday, April 05, 2022

Loved this car because of its reputation for safety, comfort, and dependability. It's been the family hauler for almost eight (8) years and has done well. The only complaint I have is that it's really, really, expensive to fix when things go wrong. Unfortunately, it started using oil at 50,000 miles - which we have been able to work around by adding a quart between oil changes. The real challenge, however, is how expensive it is to fix when things break. I was recently told that the exhaust system and catalytic converter may go and it's a $5,000 fix. Ouch. I figure that anytime I need to replace something, e.g., brakes, a front bearing, the serpentine belt, etc. it's going to be $1,000 repair. Fortunately, I only get a couple of those a year which makes fixing it cheaper than replacing the car. I really wish Volvo still made this car as I believe it was one (1) of their best sellers. If they did, I would buy it again.
